The application for the 2019 Neubauer Fellowship is now closed.

Invitations for applicants selected to interview on February 12, 2019 will be sent via email by January 31.

Eligibility: Applicants must be principals serving students in Philadelphia’s district, charter, or faith-based schools. Candidates must have at least one year of experience as a principal prior to their Fellowship year.



Application Deadline: January 18, 2019

In-Person Interviews: February 12, 2019

Fellows Announced: March 2019


Selection Criteria: The selection process gathers evidence about each applicant’s ability to:

  • Articulate a clear and compelling school-wide vision
  • Create an achievement-oriented school culture characterized by high expectations for students and adults
  • Identify and implement exemplary instructional practices
  • Develop and engage teachers to provide rigorous instruction for students
  • Nurture a safe, supportive environment for students
  • Efficiently manage school operations
  • Communicate and build relationships effectively
  • Demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to ongoing learning

Participant Commitment: Successful candidates must commit to full participation in the program, including the entire Summer Institute (July 8-13, 2019), monthly leadership development experiences during the 2019-20 school year, and quarterly opportunities during the 2020-21 school year.
