Sharifa Edwards

Sharifa is a career educator and leader who is innately invested in the ability and success of all students and young people. Her experience and commitment to urban education, coupled with her intense passion for the profession and the children she serves, has driven her to commit her life to ensuring that all young people have access to a high quality education and equitable opportunities that will ultimately empower them to lead choice filled lives.

Throughout her 15 year career, Sharifa has had the honor and privilege of serving some of the nation’s finest students in both traditional public and public charter schools in New York, Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Memphis. Starting her career as a social studies teacher in 2005, she then moved on to be an Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal, and Principal. Before moving to Philadelphia in 2018, Sharifa was the Principal of KIPP Memphis Collegiate High in Memphis, TN where she served for 6 years.

Prior to joining School Leaders, Sharifa was a Manager of School Investments with Philadelphia School Partnership where she supported and managed a $75+ million school investment portfolio inclusive of 65+ schools across the city of Philadelphia as well as provided professional development, technical assistance, and support to school leaders and educators across the city.

Sharifa is a New York native and received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Secondary Social Studies Education with a minor in Africana Studies from SUNY Geneseo in 2005, and a Master of Education from American University in 2011.
