Neubauer Fellow LeRoy Hall Focuses on Rigor, Innovation & Variety

Henry H. Houston is driven by rigorous academics, innovative teachers and a variety of partnerships. Led by LeRoy Hall (2017 Neubauer Fellow) since 2014, Houston has experienced remarkable gains, growing from 21% to 43% in overall score on the School District of Philadelphia’s School Progress Report and from 21% to 72% in the progress score.

‘Houston We Have Lift Off’ is a college initiative program offered to Houston students that includes college campus visits and interactions with college students. Other partnerships include the Urban Youth Kings and Queens daily after school program, Jersey Cares, Houston Home and School and Our Families for Houston. Through these partnerships Houston has created two outdoor classrooms, provides community supported tutors, and volunteers. LeRoy and his team continue to prepare students academically while ensuring they know about the many options available to them.
