2024 Neubauer Fellows Hone Skills in Winter Institute
Congrats to our Legendary 8! On January 22nd and 23rd, PASL was proud to host a fantastic Neubauer Fellowship Winter Institute, the third for our 2024 Cohort 8. Our principal Fellows had the opportunity to learn from six incredible speakers.
On Wednesday, Marquita McCullum, School Leadership Coach with Instructional Empowerment, spoke on how to foster collaboration, set clear instructional priorities, and empower team members to lead. That afternoon, Dr. Amanda Aiken, Principal Consultant for A.Leigh Solutions, held a session on cultivating leadership, focusing on how Neubauer Fellows could better understand and leverage their unique strengths as leaders.
On day two, Sharifa Edwards, Director of Leadership Development at Skyrocket Education, examined the issue of effective teacher hiring. Edwards emphasized early hiring and utilizing effective sourcing methods to bring in the best talent and empower schools and students. Finally, PASL’s own Executive Director, Edwin Quezada, together with our Director of Research and Evaluation, Adrienne Reitano, and our Program Director, Latanya Simmons, reviewed data interpretation with the Fellows. Dr. Quezada said, “As a principal, you have to be able to craft the story that the academic data is telling us.”
Fellows engaged with a range of learning practices, including role-play and breakout sessions, to strengthen their skillsets as school leaders. We can’t wait to share our Spring Institute with you!
