New “Pathways to Leadership” Program Launched to Develop More Black, Latino & Asian Principals

Michael Farrell (2016 Neubauer Fellow), the School District of Philadelphia’s Deputy Chief of Leadership Development, worked with partners to design and launch the district’s new “Pathways to Leadership” program.  SDP will spend $3.1 million over the next 3 years to develop 75 current employees into leadership roles. The program aims to develop Black, Latino, Asian, and other diverse candidates so that the system’s leadership better reflects students served. This program is a partnership with the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University.

Angikindslows Senatus (2020 Neubauer Fellow), principal of Edward T. Steel Elementary school, served as a leadership mentor during the pilot year of the initiative.  Senatus has been recognized by SDP for Accelerated School Improvement since 2017 and is an ideal mentor to develop talent.
