"I chose the principalship to continue my work with the students of the School District of Philadelphia. The students I serve deserve schools where they can feel safe, welcomed and can meet their potential by being held to high expectations. The principalship has given me an opportunity to coach teachers to increase student achievement and to work collaboratively with a school community to improve all outcomes for children."

Leigh has served as the principal of George W. Sharswood Elementary School since 2019. Under her leadership, George W. Sharswood Elementary School decreased out of school suspensions in 6th grade by 1%, in 7th grade by 7.9% and in 8th grade by 1.2% through the creation of a climate and social emotional team to support student behaviors.

Leigh has been an educator since 1999. Prior to becoming a principal, Leigh served as a 6th grade teacher, kindergarten literacy intern, 6-8 learning & emotional support teacher, 2nd/4th/5th grade learning support teacher, school growth teacher, reading curriculum lead, special education liaison, and assistant principal. Leigh grew up in Philadelphia, PA.
