NEUBAUER FELLOW ALIYA CATANCH-BRADLEY LEADS IN RETAINING AND RECRUITING TEACHERS OF COLOR
Neubauer Fellow, Principal Catanch-Bradley, began fighting for diversity and inclusion in education as a teenager in high school here in Philadelphia. That work continues today. As the leader of Mary McLeod Bethune School in Philadelphia, PA, Principal Catanch-Bradley has created a team that ranks among the highest in the state for the percentage of people of color and especially Black male teachers. Principal Catanch-Bradley’s journey includes a lived awareness of the historic systemic racism that targets Black teachers, key mentors from her early career and a willingness to leverage her strengths. All these elements build upon her focus and deep commitment to dedicating her life to helping make things better for the next generation.
