Shoshana Tyler Saunderson
Principal, Global Leadership Academy Charter School West
Global Academies Schools

Shoshana has served as the principal of Global Leadership Academy Charter School West since 2016. Under her leadership, Global Leadership Academy achieved a 28% increase in their School Progress Report (SPR) overall score and a 63% increase in their progress score. Global Leadership Academy’s academic growth scores increased 40% in ELA and 70.5% in Math according to Pennsylvania Value-Added Assessment (PVAAS).

While Shoshana has served as principal, Global Leadership Academy has received a $10,000 MTSS grant through Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PATTAN) to improve early literacy and received a $10,000 STEM grant to strengthen science and technology courses. Shoshana has also implemented cultural immersion programs at Global Leadership Academy that have students as passport-holding citizens traveling to other countries by 7th grade.

Shoshana has been an educator since 2007. Prior to becoming a principal, Shoshana served as an assistant principal, academy leader (K-2), literacy coordinator, and 4-6th grade teacher. Shoshana was a recipient of Global Leadership Academy’s Teacher of the Year in 2007 and was nominated for the Sue Lehmann Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2009. Shoshana grew up in Brooklyn, NY.

Wendy Sharpe
Principal, Franklin S. Edmonds School
School District of Philadelphia

Wendy has served as the principal of Franklin S. Edmonds School since 2021. Under her leadership, Franklin S. Edmonds School increased in overall STAR Assessment data. Students scoring At/Above increased 10% in English Language Arts and increased 12% in math. Franklin S. Edmonds School has received a $500 grant from the Mount Airy Homeowners Association and was accepted to the Peer Group Connection (PGC), where middle school 7th grade students will receive year-long training to become mentors to 6th grade students.

Wendy has been an educator since 1986. Prior to becoming a principal, Wendy served as a small learning community coordinator, dean of students, PFT building representative, and assistant principal. Wendy has also served as a Title One coordinator, roster chairperson, grade chair, School Advisory Committee (SAC) Member, Century 21 Liaison, and school-based teacher leader and science fair chairperson. In 1995, Wendy was Nominated Teacher of the Year. Wendy grew up in Philadelphia, PA.

Naeemah Seward

Prior her role as a Regional Schools Officer, Naeemah served as the principal of Hardy Williams High since 2017. Under her leadership, the percentage of students passing the biology Keystone Exam increased by 20%. In the 2018-2019 school year, Hardy Williams met end of course Keystone goals in literature, algebra, and biology. In 2020 and 2021, Hardy Williams earned the College Board’s AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for expanding young female access to Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles (CSP).

Naeemah has been an educator since 2004. Prior to becoming a principal, Naeemah served as a math and technology teacher for grades K-11 and an assistant principal of math and science. Naeemah received the MACCS Award of Excellence in 2014. Naeemah grew up in Philadelphia, PA.

Heather Scheg
Principal, Mastery Charter Clymer Elementary
School District of Philadelphia

Heather has served as the principal of Clymer Elementary since 2018. Under her leadership, Clymer’s 3-6 math and English Language Arts achievement growth is in the top 75th percentile of network. Clymer’s Instructional Culture Index and Learning Environment scores on the National Insight Survey are also in the top quartile of all schools.

Heather has been an educator since 2003. Prior to becoming a principal, Heather served as a middle and high school math teacher (6th, 7th, 8th, Algebra I, Algebra II, Financial Literacy), achievement coordinator for math, and assistant principal of instruction. Heather has been part of the recognition for USA Top High School in 2017 and 2018, for the EPIC award in 2011, and as a Spotlight Principal. Heather grew up in Lebanon, PA.

Nichole Polk

Nichole has served as the principal of Potter-Thomas School since 2019. Under her leadership, Potter-Thomas School’s STAR Assessment At/Above Reading scores increased 6.1%, On Watch scores increased 2.4%, Strategic Intervention scores increased 4.6%, and Intensive Intervention scores decreased 13.2%.

Nichole has been an educator since 2001. Prior to becoming a principal, Nichole served as Literacy Intern Teacher, 2nd Grade Teacher, 3rd Grade Teacher, K-6 Writing Prep Teacher, School-Based Teacher Leader (SBTL), and Assistant Principal. Christie Parfitt

Christie has served as the principal of Jay Cooke Elementary School since 2020. Under her leadership, Jay Cooke’s percentage of students scoring At/Above on the STAR Assessment has increased 5.8% in English Language Arts and 3.3% in Math. Jay Cooke has also seen an increase in the percent of students attending 90% or more days of school. Jay Cooke received the School District of Philadelphia’s Family and Community Engagement Office’s “School Spotlight” and was recognized by the Pennsylvania Positive Behavior Support Network for excellence in school-wide positive behavior interventions and supports. Christie has been an educator since 2010. Prior to becoming a principal, Christie served as a 9th and 10th grade biology teacher, 11th grade chemistry teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal. Brian Meadows

Brian took on a Deputy Chief role in the District’s Office of Curriculum and Instruction in spring 2024. Prior to that, Brian served as principal of Thurgood Marshall School, a role he took on in 2019. Under his leadership, Thurgood Marshall’s kindergarten proficiency levels have increased by 21%. Thurgood Marshall has also been recognized as a model school in Positive Behavioral Interventions Support (PBIS).

Brian has been an educator since 2005. Prior to becoming a principal at Thurgood Marshall, Brian served as the principal at Boys’ Latin Middle School, where each year they earned recognition as being a “high growth” school by Pennsylvania Value-Added Assessment (PVAAS). Brian also served as a 6-12 math teacher, K-12 instructional coach, education consultant, and assistant principal. Dave has served as the principal of St. James School since 2016. Under his leadership, St. James School has increased MAP Reading scores by 22 points. Dave also supports the strong sense of student leadership at St. James by encouraging student participation in the 30 school affiliated enrichment programs. In 2019, St. James School received the “Zones of Peace” award from Interfaith Philadelphia.

Dave has been an educator since 1991. Prior to becoming a principal at St. James School, Dave served as Principal at Pastorius Elementary—Mastery Charter from 2013-2016. Under his leadership, Pastorius Elementary was named a “turnaround” Mastery school, PSSA scores increased in ELA and Math, and Pastorius achieved a top rating from School Progress Reports. Prior to becoming a principal, Dave served as a regional director, assistant dean of students, 9th grade religion teacher, 7th grade ELA/social studies/science teacher, varsity soccer coach, and varsity baseball coach. Dave was an Effective Practice Incentive Community (EPIC) award winner for school-wide academic growth. Dave grew up in Brooklyn, NY.

Tangela McClam
Principal, Guion S. Blueford Elementary School

Tangela serves as the principal of Guion S. Bluford Elementary School. Before that, she was the principal of Lewis C. Cassidy Academics Plus School fr om 2014-2023.Under her leadership, Lewis C. Cassidy Academics Plus had an 84% increase in the Progress category of School Progress Reports from 2015 to 2018. Academics Plus has also received state recognition for Positive Behavior Interventions and Support implementation.

Tangela has been an educator since 2000. Prior to becoming a principal, Tangela served as a 1st-grade literacy intern teacher, 5th-grade self-contained teacher, 7th and 8th grade math teacher, K-8 dean, teacher coach, and afterschool coordinator. Tangela completed the RELAY Admin Track. Tangela serves on the School District of Philadelphia Equity Coalition. Tangela grew up in Philadelphia, PA.

David Lon
Principal, Jules E. Mastbaum Area Vocational School
School District of Philadelphia

David has served as the principal of Jules E. Mastbaum Area Vocational School since 2019. Under his leadership, Jules E. Mastbaum AVTS has seen four-year Keystone growth of 8.6% in Literature and 10.7% in Biology. Over the same four-year span, the percentage of students on-track-graduate has increased by 13% in 9th grade and 9.7% in 10th grade. Finally, serious incidents have decreased by 7.2% per 100 students, and the number of students with zero suspensions has improved by 7.8%.

David has been an educator since 2001. Prior to becoming a principal, David served as an Assistant Principal, English Department Chair, English teacher for grades 9-12, and advanced placement English Language teacher. David received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2008, as well as commendation from the Lieutenant Governor for Top Public School Teachers. In 2011, David received the Harry Gaffney Distinguished Teacher Award. David grew up in Philadelphia, PA and attended School District of Philadelphia schools.

Mary Libby

Mary serves as the Assistant Superintendent of the Governor Mifflin School District. Before her installation, she was the principal at Marian Anderson Neighborhood Academy (formerly known as Chester A. Arthur School) from 2019 to 2023. Under her leadership, Chester A. Arthur School student achievement has increased in all three District Board Goal Leading indicators. As measured by PSSA Proficiency, Chester A. Arthur has had an 8% increase in 3rd-8th grade students performing at/above benchmark in Reading, a 13% increase in K-3rd grade students performing at/above benchmark in Reading, and an 8% increase in 3rd-8th grade students performing at/above benchmark in Math.

In 2019, the Office of Educational Technology, Rob Wasserman, and The Fund granted the Chester A. Arthur School with the Technology Award which was accompanied by four fully stocked Chromebook Carts. In 2020, Chester A. Arthur School received the Office of Family and Community Engagement’s (FACE) Family-School Partnership Award to acknowledge the school’s family engagement efforts. In2021 WHYY awarded the Chester A. Arthur School with a WHYY Media Lab.

Mary has been an educator since 2005. Prior to becoming a principal, Mary served as a teacher department chair, school based instructional specialist, principal fellow, and professional learning specialist. Mary is on the Advisory Board for the University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Education, Urban Teaching Residency Program. Mary grew up in the Portland, ME, area.

Amanda Jones
Principal, The Honorable Luis Muñoz Marín Elementary School
School District of Philadelphia

Amanda has served as the principal of Luis Muñoz Marín Elementary School since 2020. Under her leadership, Muñoz Marín’s Star Assessment scores increased in the 2021-2022 school year and the average Student Growth Percentiles (SGP) increased by 7.2% in English Language Arts and 8.8% in Math. Muñoz Marín also saw a decrease in intensive interventions.

In 2022 Muñoz Marín was recognized by The President of the United States Joe Biden for using American Relief Funds to support literacy and after-school arts programs for students. Amanda also created a school-wide diversity and equity coalition that birthed Muñoz Marín’s first annual Hispanic Heritage celebration and Black Lives Matter week.

Amanda has been an educator since 2015. Prior to becoming a principal, Amanda served as a first-grade teacher, third grade teacher, Catapult learning site supervisor, reading intervention coach for grades K-3, and assistant principal. Amanda grew up in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Dollette Johns-Smith
Principal, Morton McMichael School
School District of Philadelphia

Dollette has served as the principal of Morton McMichael School since 2019. Under her leadership, Morton McMichael exited the Acceleration Network model as a result of a 21% increase in School Progress Report (SPR) scores. In the 2019-2020 school year, Morton McMichael was recognized for Accelerating School Improvement.

Dollette has been an educator since 1997. Prior to becoming a principal, Dollette served as a teacher, climate and culture coach, observation and feedback coach, assistant principal, and principal fellow. Dollette grew up in Philadelphia, PA.

Rodney Johnson
Principal, John Moffet School
School District of Philadelphia

Rodney has served as the principal of John Moffet School since 2019. Under his leadership, John Moffet’s K-5 Math Aimsweb Data increased 8%. In addition to seeing growth in overall school data, there has been a 19% increase in math for English Language Learner students at Moffet. In 2020, John Moffet received recognition as a National Elementary Honor Society School.

Rodney has been an educator since 2007. Prior to becoming a principal, Rodney served as a pre-kindergarten teacher, kindergarten teacher, 1st grade teacher, 3rd grade teacher, academic literacy coach, director of early literacy, and professional learning specialist. Rodney grew up in West Palm Beach, FL.

Kahlila Johnson
Deputy Chief of Talent Management
School District of Philadelphia

Kahlila has served as the principal of Overbrook High School since 2019. Under her leadership, Overbrook High School’s out of school suspensions decreased by 17.8%. During the 2021-2022 school year, the STAR Reading Assessment scores for At/Above increased in Grades 9-11 from 7.8% in Quarter 1 and to 15% in Quarter 2. Overbrook High School is meeting the high school graduation target of 65% of students graduating in the 2021-2022 school year. In the 2021-2022 SY the on-track data has increased for each grade level. Overbrook High School also has a Digital Media CTE program, where students partake in internships with the Mann Music Center and Live Nation.

Kahlila has been an educator since 1993. Prior to becoming the principal of Overbrook High School, Kahlila was the founding principal at Philadelphia Learning Academy-North in 2009. She has also served as principal at William L. Sayre High School from 2010-2012. Under her leadership, PSSA scores increased in literacy and Sayre was removed from the state’s most dangerous list. She has led in traditional public schools, charter and virtual charter. Prior to becoming a principal, Kahlila served as a physics teacher, 9th grade Success Academy team leader, district-wide academic coach, assistant principal, and deputy chief of high schools. Kahlila serves on the National Coalition of 100 Black Women. Prior to becoming an educator, Kahlila worked for the United States Department of education as a researcher. Kahlila is a Queens, NY native, but her heart is in Philadelphia, PA where she was educated in public schools 5th-12th grade. She is the mother of two children, Taylor and Kirby, who are both educators in the city of Philadelphia.

Erica Green
Principal, Russell H. Conwell Middle Magnet School
School District of Philadelphia

Erica has served as the principal of Conwell Middle Magnet School since 2013. Under her leadership, Conwell Middle Magnet School has seen growth in academic gains and student attendance. Conwell has also developed strong community and alumni partnerships with Temple University, After School All Stars (ASAS), and Zaire Franklin Foundation’s “Shelice’s Angels.” During the 2019-2020 school year Councilwoman Sanchez and the Cocoa- Cola organization gave Conwell a $10,000 grant for Conwell Student Council members to update the school yard.

Erica has been an educator in the School District of Philadelphia since 1995. Prior to becoming a principal at Conwell Middle Magnet School, Erica served as principal at Grover Cleveland Elementary School. Under her leadership, Grover Cleveland received recognition for Adequate Year Progress (AYP). Prior to becoming a principal, Erica served as a middle school literacy and social studies teacher, an elementary school assistant principal, and a middle school assistant principal. Erica is the recipient of the 2019 Marcus Foster Award for Stellar Principals and a 2022 recipient of the Lindback Award for Distinguished Principals. Erica grew up in Philadelphia, PA.

Nimet Eren
Principal, Kensington Health Sciences Academy

Nimet has served as the principal of Kensington Health Sciences Academy since 2017. Under her leadership, Kensington Health Sciences Academy improved the number of students “on-track” by 34.1%. Improved the number of students attending 95% days or more by 39.3%. Kensington Health Sciences Academy has been recognized for School Progress Report growth.

Nimet has been an educator since 2007. Prior to becoming a principal, Nimet served as a teacher and assistant principal. Nimet received the Lindback Principal Award in 2019. Nimet has received the City Year Moccasin Award. She has also received the Olney Charter High School Teacher of the Year in 2014. In 2020, Nimet received the University of Pennsylvania William E. Arnold Award for Outstanding Contributions by a Student. Nimet grew up in Avon Lake, OH.

David Cohen
Principal, Dr. Tanner G. Duckrey Public School

David has served as the principal of Dr. Tanner G. Duckrey Public School since 2014. Under his leadership, Duckrey has had an increase in School Progress Report (SPR) scores. David has also endorsed consistent professional development and wellness supports for staff, which can be seen in academic coaches, peer observation programs, and weekly Common Planning Time meetings.

David has been an educator since 2005. Prior to becoming a principal at Dr. Tanner G. Duckery Public School, David served as principal of Crossroads at Huntington Park where he increased the student attendance rate and developed a Positive Behavior Support Plan. Prior to becoming a principal, David served as a 4th grade teacher, 5th grade teacher, 6th grade teacher, and dean of students. David serves on the Teacher Leader Steering Committee for the School District of Philadelphia and has participated in the Principal Focus Group for District Partnerships. Andrew Brooking
Principal, Thomas G. Morton School

Andrew has served as principal of Thomas G. Morton School since 2020. Under his leadership, Thomas G. Morton has more than doubled the percent of students on grade level for math, as well as increased the percent of students on grade level for reading by 13%.

Andrew has been an educator since 2004. Prior to becoming a principal, he has served as a tutor, college advisor, teacher aid, Teaching Fellow, bilingual teacher, middle school math and ELA teacher, school-based teacher leader, assistant principal and Principal Fellow. In 2014, Andrew’s students were recognized for Exemplary Growth in Grade 6 Math at KIPP Philadelphia. Andrew is a graduate of the National Academy of Advanced Teacher Education’s (NAATE) Teacher Leader program. He received his administrative certificate from TNTP‘s residency program, Philadelphia Pathway to Leadership in Urban Schools, PhillyPLUS Turnaround. Andrew grew up in a small town in upstate New York.

Tiffani Joi Blunt
Principal, Grover Washington Jr. Middle School
School District of Philadelphia

Joi has served as the principal of Grover Washington Jr. Middle School since 2018. Under her leadership, Grover Washington Jr. Middle School’s School Progress Report scores increased 28% in overall score, 61% in progress, and 20% in climate during the 2018-2019 school year. In 2021, Grover Washington Jr. Middle School was featured in the Philadelphia Tribune’s “School of the Week.”

Joi has been an educator since 2008. Prior to becoming a principal at Grover Washington, Joi was principal at Julia Ward Howe School from 2017-2018. Under her leadership, Howe was named Top Elementary School in the School District of Philadelphia during the 2017-2018 school year, student attendance increased, and the Home and School Association was established. Prior to becoming a principal, Joi served as a 6th-8th grade math teacher, special education liaison, teacher leader, academic coach, technology teacher leader, testing coordinator, and mentor teacher. Joi grew up in Hillside, NJ.

KaTiedra Argro
Principal, Philadelphia High School for Girls
School District of Philadelphia

KaTiedra Argro returned to her alma mater with her appointment as Principal of Philadelphia High School for Girls in 2024.  She previously served as the principal of Commodore John Barry Elementary School from 2019-2024. Under her leadership, John Barry implemented a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, which includes a PBIS arcade room. John Barry’s STAR Student Growth Performance in reading increased 7.1% and increased 6.7% in math. KaTiedra also implemented strategic small groups at John Barry, where staff use common planning time to focus on using data to drive small group instruction and professional development aligned with PA school standards.

KaTiedra has been an educator since 2003. Prior to becoming a principal, KaTiedra served as a youth advocate, 5-8 math teacher, 5-8 special education teacher, 5-8 special education liaison, 5-8 director of mentally gifted programs, 7-8 math and science instructional coach, director of specialized services, special education case manager, early intervention special instructor, and assistant principal. KaTiedra has served on the School District of Philadelphia’s Principal Advisory Board, Before Care and After Care Extra Curricula Principal Planning Team, and Professional Learning Cycle Planning Team. She has also served as a Professional Development Facilitator to support equity initiatives at SDP and as the Local 502 Commonwealth Association of School Administrators Steward. KaTiedra grew up in the Fairhill Housing project in North Philadelphia, PA. KaTiedra is a Philadelphia High School for Girls’ graduate Class 243.
