Two Neubauer Fellow-Led Schools Receive 2021 Distinguished National Blue Ribbon Award
We are thrilled to share that two Neubauer Fellow-led schools – Girard Academy Music Program (GAMP), led by principal Jovan Moore (2019 Fellow) and Penn Alexander School (PAS), led by principal Lauren Overton (2018 Fellow) and previously led by Michael Farrell (2016 Fellow) – were recognized today as 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Each year, the U.S. Department of Education identifies a select group of K-12 schools from across the country to receive the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award. The Blue Ribbon Award honors public and private schools where students achieve exemplary academic performance or make tremendous targeted growth.
Jovan, Lauren, and Michael are part of the Neubauer Fellowship in Educational Leadership which serves nearly one-third of Philadelphia’s principals. Neubauer Fellows have led 9 of 12 (75%) National Blue Ribbon Schools in Philadelphia over the past six years. We are incredibly proud of each Fellow and their students, faculty, and school communities for receiving this distinguished national honor.
